Saturday, August 6th
What a great last Saturday at the Rock! We had regular activities in the morning with kids working on badges all over campus. A group of campers wandered across the street for a Zen nature walk with Dave Weeks. We did have one major moment in the morning when one Dylan S completed his Whale swim around the perimeter of the lake. Dylan could be heard saying to the swim staff, "Thank you so much. Thank you for helping me with my breathing in the water. It helped." Great job, Dylan. We are all so proud.
The afternoon was the big highlight. We had 3 campers do their Seal swims (the length of the lake)...Naropa P, Nick R and Henry C. All three had great little stories to tell about their time in the water. But while these guys were swimming everyone else was at the big baseball game.
18 of our best baseball players gathered on the field for a glorious game of baseball. We really made this game fun. We had managers, assistant managers, mascots, bat boys, an announcer and color-guy, scoreboard, homerun fence, advertisements, vendors (popcorn, cracker jacks & root beer), music as each player approached the plate, etc. It was a three inning game full of thrills and excitement. The first inning started off with the Biroca Pack taking the lead 6 to nothing. However, shortly after the second inning stretch while Sweet Caroline was playing the BRC Knights really loosened up. The final inning ended with a score of 6 to 5. The knights had a man on second with two outs but just couldn't bring him home. A good time was definitely had by all.
The evening was our final Campfire skit night of the year. It was a great one with Pickleback being the best skit. Pickleback was a band put together by one Zach "Pickles" Lynn. The guys were hilarious!
It was a great day
