Wednesday, August 3rd
Greetings from the waterfront of Lake McWain. Captain Nemo here filling in for the alpha wolf, Mega Mike. One the waterfront the last couple of days it has all been about long distance swims. We have had Seals, Loons, and Ducks flying off the dock. Just in the last two days Louis H completed his seal in as windy conditions as I have ever seen in 13 summers at Birch Rock, Edward S swam his loon, and it was a quack fest today during fourth period where LeLe, Mac A and Stu W all completed their Ducks. The highlight of today was a visit from our friendly ice cream truck drivers at the end of third period. They sure are swell guys.
As the summer is starting to come quickly to end the pace of camp seems to be accelerating. As I write this I can hear the router from the woodshop working overtime on the plaques for 2011. It will be a bittersweet moment when their new home is revealed in the lodge next week.
Back to the beautiful blue waters for me.
Till next time,
Erik "Captain Nemo" Joelsson
