I am pleased to announce the progress that has been made towards reaching the goal of funding Deneault’s Den by the 80th Celebration ceremony on July 22 at Birch Rock Camp. To date $7,500.00 of the $12,000.00 has been raised. Although I am pleased with the outpouring of support for this project, I am eager to announce the fulfillment of our $12,000.00 goal.

As many of you know, Phyllis passed away recently and Mike has been struggling with his health as one might expect of someone in his late 80’s. With his daughter Ann, Mike returned to Birch Rock last summer to see the Director’s Cabin and to swap a story or two with campers and staff. His coming with Ann brought joy to those of us who have known Mike and value his association with Birch Rock Camp. Although Mike’s health is fragile, he is looking forward to attending Birch Rock’s 80th Celebration.

A ribbon cutting for the new Deneault’s Den is being planned and I hope to have Mike, members of his family and close friends present. To commerate this very special occasion, the camp will have a plaque honoring the Deneaults as this cabin will replace the original small cabin that Mike and Phyllis once occupied when they first worked for Chief and Onie Brewster. Stones of support and friendship will be placed along the walkway representing our commitment and celebration of the the 80th Anniversary and the Deneault Family.

I invite you to recall your Birch Rock memories and your association with Mike and Phyllis Deneault as friends and leaders of Birch Rock Camp.
