Staff and Board of Trustees
"These fun-loving, hard-working, well-disciplined counselors are excellent role models for the boys, and embody the qualities we want for our sons."

The heart and soul of any camp community is its dedicated staff.  Birch Rock’s excellence is based on talented counselors and educators who return to the “Rock” summer after summer. Last year, more than 80 percent of the staff was back. Every counselor shows campers the way to live our motto:  Help the Other Fellow.

Each summer before camp opens, our entire staff goes through a rigorous training in first aid, CPR, water safety, and behavior modification techniques for working with children. A number of staff members also receive specialized training in American Red Cross swimming and water craft instruction, archery, riflery, Maine trip leadership, and wilderness first response skills.

Staff Profiles for 2009 will be available by opening day.

Birch Rock boasts a dedicated, diverse and hard working board of trustees, many of whom were campers here themselves. The trustees’ efforts ensure that boys today will have the same meaningful camp experience that they enjoyed in years past.

Since 1926, Birch Rock’s mission has been to offer boys and young men the chance to enjoy nature, sports and a traditional camping experience along the shores of quiet, pristine McWain Pond.  Each summer, Birch Rock asks campers to take on the challenge of cooperative living, to learn new skills, and to set the bar high for personal goals.

As boys mature each summer at camp, our motto - Help the Other Fellow - becomes a call to action and a way of life.
